African Chakalaka Paptert

Ingredients
    INGREDIENTS FOR PAP:
  • 500 g Maize Meal
  • 50 g Butter or Margarine
  • 10 g Kalahari Spice
  • 1.5 l Water
  • INGREDIENTS FOR FILLING:
  • Oil ((For Frying))
  • 500 g Tomatoes ((Peeled & Chopped))
  • 150 g Onion ((Chopped))
  • 40 g Chakalaka Stew Mix
  • 300 ml Water
  • 1 Sweet Corn ((Tin))
  • 20 g Sugar
  • 2 cup Cheddar Cheese ((Grated))
Instructions
    METHOD:
  1. 1. Add water and Maize Meal to a pot and bring to the boil turn down heat and simmer until cooked. Flavour with Kalahari Spice and Butter.
  2. 2. Fry chopped Onion and tomato in pre-heated oil until soft. Mix Chakalaka Stew Mix Spice with water and add with Sugar to Tomato mix. Simmer until cooked and then add the Sweet Corn.
  3. 3. Use a large oven dish and spray with Spray and Cook. Fill with half of the pap and smooth the surface with a large spoon. Top with a sprinkle of grated Cheddar Cheese and then a layer of filling. Follow with a layer of pap filling and Cheese to end off. Bake in pre heated oven for 20 minutes, until Cheese is melted and golden brown.
