Homestyle Meatballs with Fusilli

Pork, Beef Or Veal Meatballs served with perfect Fusilli.

Ingredients
    INGREDIENTS
  • 1 Large Onion
  • 750 g Pork, Veal OR Beef Mince
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup Freshly Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Parsley ((Chopped))
  • 1 Egg ((Beaten))
  • 1 Clove Garlic ((Peeled & Crushed))
  • Rind and Juice of 1 Lemon
  • Salt & Pepper ((For Taste))
  • 1/4 cup Cake Flour ((Seasoned))
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 500 g Fusilli OR Spiral Pasta
  • INGREDIENTS SAUCE:
  • 425 g Tomato Puree ((1 Can))
  • 1/2 cup Beef Stock
  • 1/2 cup Red Wine
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Basil ((Chopped))
  • 1 Clove Garlic ((Peeled & Crushed))
  • Salt & Pepper ((For Taste))
Instructions
    METHOD:
  1. 1. Peel Onions and chop finely.
  2. 2. In a large bowl combine Mince, Breadcrumbs, Parmesan, Onions, Parsley, Egg, Garlic, Lemon Rind and Juice, Salt & Pepper.
  3. 3. Roll Tablespoon of mixture into balls and roll balls in seanoned flour.
  4. 4. Place oil in frying pan and fry Meatballs until Golden. Remove from pan and drain on paper towels. Set aside.
  5. 5. Remove excess fat and meat juice from pan.
  6. METHOD SAUCE:
  7. 1. In the same pan combine Tomato Puree, Stock, Wine, Basil, Garlic, Salt & Pepper and bring to boil.
  8. 2. Reduce the heat and return Meatballs to pan, allow to simmer for 10 - 15 minutes.
  9. 3. While meatballs and sauce are cooking, add Fusilli OR Spiral Pasta in a large pan with rapidly boiling water and cook until just tender, Drain well.
  10. 4. Serve Fusilli with Meatballs and Sauce ontop.
