Old Fasion Bran Rusks

Ingredients
    INGREDIENTS:
  • 4 cup Self-Raising Flour
  • 4 cup Digestive Bran
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 5 ml Salt
  • 5 ml Baking Powder
  • 1 cup Mixed Seeds ((Sundlower Seeds))
  • 1 cup Dates ((Finely Chopped))
  • 1 cup Margarine
  • 2 cup Plain Yoghurt ((OR Buttermilk))
Instructions
    METHOD:
  1. 1. Place all of the dry ingredients into a large mixing bowl. .
  2. 2. Melt the Margarine in a pan and pour into the dry mixture with the Yogurt.
  3. 3. Pour the mixture into two greased loaf pans.
  4. 4. Bake at 170 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. 5. Allow to cool for 10 minutes and turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. 6. Cut into rusks and arrange in a single layer on a baking sheet
  7. 7. Reduce the oven temperature to 70 degrees and bake the rusks for 4 to 4.5 hours, allowing the rusks to dry out.
  8. 8. Allow to cool completely, before storing in an airtight container.
